I have recently become aware of a serious issue with postal deliveries in some areas of the constituency. Many of my constituents who come under the Chelmsford (CM3) postal area, especially those in South Woodham Ferrers and South and East Hanningfield, have had deliveries missed or severely delayed.
I take this issue very seriously as I know how important it is to residents and businesses to get reliable and frequent deliveries of mail. Whilst I am aware that staff absence due to coronavirus has contributed to the issue, I have personally contacted senior managers at the Royal Mail, urging them to so all that they can to rectify this as soon as possible. I have attached their response below.
Royal Mail has told me that they expect every postcode served by the Chelmsford Sorting Centre to be receiving a minimum twice weekly delivery service, starting this week (Monday 22nd November). This is clearly far below what we should be able to expect and I will continue to do all that I can to ensure that the level of service improves as quickly as possible.
