John Whittingdale MP was pleased to attend a meeting at Maldon Police Station with Chief Superintendent Claire Talbot, the new Local Policing Commander for North Essex, which is the largest area within Essex Police.
During their meeting, John raised with her the difficulties of policing the rural parts of the County like the Dengie Peninsula as well as the need for the police to be both more visible and accessible. John was pleased to meet with officers from the response team based in Maldon, and discussed community engagement.
John said: “ I was pleased to hear more from Chief Superintendent Talbot about the engagement of our local police with local Councils and schools. In particular, I very much welcome the fact that in the next few weeks the Community Policing Team covering Maldon will once more be based in Maldon rather than operating from Chelmsford. We are fortunate that the crime rate locally remains low although it has risen in the past year. I will continue to work closely with the police as well as our local Councils to ensure that this remains a safe and prosperous place to live”.
