John Whittingdale MP was pleased to be able to have a meeting this afternoon with National Rail and Greater Anglia to discuss the issues relating to the Southminster Railway Line.
John has been very aware of his constituents’ concerns about the Southminster Line which has been running a reduced service since August. He knows that it has a particular effect on those commuting to work and school, and made representations to both Greater Anglia and Network Rail during this period.
John was informed in August that the prolonged dry weather over the summer had caused the clay ground below the tracks to move. He is glad that Network Rail took immediate action to start emergency repairs, although these repairs have taken longer than anticipated due to the extent of the track movement. John has been informed that Network Rail has been working day and night to get the line repaired as soon as possible.
The repairs will now be completed in time for schools to return following half term holidays- and that full service should be restored from 31st October.
