In DCMS Questions, Sir John Whittingdale MP raised the importance of BBC Local Radio and expressed his disagreement with the BBC’s proposal to reduce the provision of local radio services.
BBC Essex is a service that is highly valued by listeners in Sir John’s constituency. He believes that rather than cutting back on local radio, it’s a service that the BBC should be looking to invest more into.
Sir John asked Minister, Julia Lopez, if she would urge the BBC to reconsider.
He also went on BBC Essex to discuss these proposed changes.
