Sir John Whittingdale recently visited Mayland Village FC, a community football club with teams covering year groups from 6 up to a men’s team which plays in the Vauxhall Mid Essex Football League.
The club organises training sessions and games on Saturdays and Sundays on Lawling Park, Katonia Avenue in Mayland, and supports charities including the Blossom Suite in Broomfield Hospital and most recently donated kit which is now in use by Mvuthu Girls FC, a team in Zimbabwe.
John said:
“I was delighted to visit Mayland FC on Saturday, and to see so many youngsters from the village enjoying their football. The coaches all give their time each weekend to help the club and it is great to hear that several young players have already been taken up by bigger clubs like Colchester United. “
