Sir John Whittingdale MP was delighted to be able to attend the Eurovision Final in Liverpool, in his new capacity as Minister of State in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, joining the Secretary Of State and other Ministers.
John joined the Ukrainian Minister of Culture, Oleksandr Tkachenko, as well as the Ambassador, Vadym Prystaiko and Tim Davie, Director General of the BBC, for a tour of the tributes and art pieces made by UK and Ukrainian artists.
John said:
“I am proud that the UK was able to join last year’s winner, Ukraine, in hosting this year’s contest, and that the city did such a fantastic job not just in organising the event, but also in honouring the Ukrainian people in recognition of all that they have endured this past year.
Well done to all involved, and Slava Ukraini!“
