Sir John Whittingdale cut the ribbon to open the new premises of Pocknells in the Old Maldon Police Station. Pocknells, an accountancy firm already based in South Woodham Ferrers, acquired the Old Police Station in Maldon High Street and have converted it into modern new offices while retaining the original features of the Police Station including the cells.
John said:
“I am delighted to welcome Pocknells to the town and congratulate them on a fantastic job in converting the old Police Station into their new office headquarters. Having been an iconic building with a wonderful history, for the last few years it has been an eyesore in the centre of the town. It is marverllous that so many original features of the Police Station have been kept while still bringing the building back into use with modern office facilities.”
