15th September 2023
Sir John Whittingdale joined Essex County Councillors, Head of Lion Academy Trust, Justin James, and representatives of the construction firm Morgan Sindall to mark the construction of the new Limebrook Primary School in Maldon.
Limebrook will be located in the Handley Garden Development, and is due to open in September 2024. It will be a 2 form entry Primary School, accommodating 420 pupils, and will also include a 56 place early years facility, with both operated by Lion Academy Trust. The school building is designed to be Net Zero in operation, through the provision of PV Panels and air source heat pumps.
Sir John said:
“I am delighted to see that this much-needed new Primary School is being provided so quickly. Maldon is growing fast and this will help relieve pressure on our existing schools while increasing parental choice. I know that a number of parents have already applied for places for their children and have no doubt it will prove extremely popular“.
