John Whittingdale attended the Topping Out ceremony for the new £148 million wing at Broomfield Hospital. The new hospital will be complete by Summer 2010 with the first patients due to be treated there in autumn 2010. It will have more than 300 bed, seven new operating theatres, new A & E and out patients departments, a special care baby unit and a roof top helipad. The new hospital wing is being built by contractors, Bouygues UK and is a PFI project.
