Sir John Whittingdale MP is aware that there has been significant disruption to broadband connectivity in his constituency affecting areas such as Maylandsea, Latchindon and Tillingham.
Sir John understands and sympathises that that the recent theft of broadband cable has and will continue to obstruct many of his constituents from going about their daily business, whether it be using the landline, the running of local businesses, using post office services, financial transactions and online banking or arranging medical appointments.
Sir John wishes to reassure his constituents that he is doing everything in his power as their elected representative to monitor the situation and put pressure on BT/Openreach to resolve this problem with their infrastructure. He understands that while the cables remain missing this will have potentially serious consequences for Maldon constituents and therefore urges BT/Openreach to act swiftly to replace the stolen fibreoptic cables.
