Sir John Whittingdale MP joins 16 of his fellow MPs in signing a letter calling for transparency on new grid infrastructure in relation to the Centralised Strategic Network Plan (CSPN).
As representatives of predominantly rural constituencies, Sir John and his fellow signatories are profoundly concerned about the presumption to just install pylons for any new transmission infrastructure and the impact this would have on their communities.
When the Government commissions the National Energy System Operator (NESO) to set out a national strategic plan for the grid, Sir John and his colleagues believe this ought to set out fully costed options for all technologies – not just pylons.
