John Whittingdale met Andrew Gardner, Chief Executive of Essex AgeUK, at their offices in Widford Hall, Chelmsford to discuss the work of the charity in the county.
Age UK offers a number of services to those aged over 50 in Essex including Home Help, Toenail Cutting, Advocacy, Sitting to provide respite for carers and Dementia Connections to help people living with dementia. Last year, Essex Age UK helped over 60,000 people in the county.
Its Information and Advice service is a free and confidential advice service for anyone aged 50 or over, their family, friends, professionals or carers. Through a team of professional advisers, they can provide up to date information and advice on a range of topics including welfare benefits, social care, bereavement and legal queries.
