Sir John Whittingdale, MP for Maldon visited Essex and Sussex Water’s Hanningfield Water Treatment Works which treats up to 240Ml/day of drinking water for a large part of Essex and east London.
It is the largest works operated by Essex & Suffolk Water and draws water from the 26,000 ML Hanningfield Reservoir. Sir John was given a tour of the Works by Area Manager, Nick Trice, and also discussed how the company ensures water purity, reliability of supply and some local issues such as the impact on businesses of the recent closure of Hackmans Lane for works.
