I have had a number of constituents contact me about the issue of abortion.
Whilst I oppose abortion based on sex selection, I am not “anti abortion” as I believe that there are circumstances when it is right to assist a woman terminate and unwanted pregnancy.
However, it is not something which I believe should be entered into lightly as the damage done to the mental health of the mother can be significant. The law as it stands is, in my view, allows for reasonable access to abortion services and I do not support attempts to further liberalise the laws.
