John Whittingdale attended the Digging and Delving exhibition at the Burnham on Crouch Museum on the history of the allotments in Burnham and launch of the associated publication. The concept and implementation of this project was carried out by Create and Flourish CIC, a Community Interest Company based in Burnham which helps local people to build resilience and maintain or improve mental and physical well-being through gardening and arts & crafts activities. The project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
20 acres of land were first leased to Burnham Parish Council for allotments in 1895 and Digging and Delving is a fascinating history based on many personal recollections of locals and allotment holders.
