John Whittingdale met Ella Pennycott from Burnham on Crouch who had come to Westminster to talk to MPs as part of the Stolen Futures Campaign of the National Deaf Children’s Society:
Ella, who is a Year 8 student at Southend High School for Girls, is a member of the Youth Advisory Board of the NCDS.
John said: “I was delighted to meet Ella during her visit to Westminster. She spoke powerfully about the difficulties faced by deaf children and how schools, universities and employers need to do more to help meet their needs. I will certainly be taking this up with Essex County Council and warmly congratulate Ella on her participation in this important campaign”.
