As the national effort to provide Covid vaccinations continues to expand, John was very pleased to learn that new vaccination sites have recently opened in the constituency.
On 18 January, the first COVID-19 NHS large vaccination centre in Essex opened at The Lodge in Runwell, Wickford. In South Woodham Ferrers, the Crouch Vale Medical Centre has also begun providing Covid vaccinations.
The NHS has confirmed that letters have been sent out in the last few days to people aged 80 who live up to a 45 minute drive from the new centre in Runwell, inviting them to book an appointment through the national booking service online or over the phone.
The NHS have assured John that they will be in touch with all those eligible for the vaccine as soon as possible and have asked that constituents not contact them beforehand.
Nationally, on 18 January, the Prime Minister announced that people in England in their 70s, and those listed as clinically extremely vulnerable, will begin receiving offers of a coronavirus vaccine this week.
As of 17 January, 4,062,501 people across the UK had received their first dose of the Covid vaccine, 3,520,056 of those in England, of which 370,989 were in the East of England region.
John thanks those currently eligible for but yet to have received the Covid vaccine for their continued patience and would like to remind all constituents to please continue to follow all national guidance to control the virus and help save lives.
